HNA Swim & Div Upcoming Events/Carpools & Bus
Dear Most Awesome Team in the World,
1. 3 Events have been Scheduled - I need you to go into SwimTopia and declare whether you will be attending. Just click on the event and edit yourself. Here is the link: https://holynames.swimtopia.com
a. The Parent Information Night (you are selecting for your parent)
b. The annual Labor Day Hike (counts as a practice)
c. 33rd Annual Spartan Relay Races (counts as a practice; and counts towards qualifying times for State)
(Jones and Collins get points for being the first to sign-up)
2. Crowded Lanes - Lanes will be crowded for the next two weeks as athletes are getting their 10 practices in. You must have 10 practices to compete in the first dual meet. You may have 8 practices to compete in the Spartan Relays or the NW Catholic Invitational which will count towards your practice count. The first dual meet is against Lakeside our toughest competition. Please, remember to part the seas in your lane so the next swimmer can finish hard. If you are caught not finishing to the wall, be ready to do burpees.
3. What School Year are You - I noticed a lot of you did not put in the school year when you registered for SwimTopia. It is important that you have that school year listed for swim meets. I started to edit athletes but It was taking a lot of time so I am hoping you can help me.
4. Carpools – We do not have a lot of seniors this year so carpools are scarce. We are working on getting that second bus. Please, be patient. I promise I will email you when we get a driver for the second bus.
a. Monday – We will meet at the statue of Mary after school do have lunch together and finalize carpools. BRING YOUR OWN LUNCH. For those who do not have a carpool or bus, you will need to take the Metro bus to practice or walk. Freshmen get first priority of the bus. Mrs. Draggoo will meet at the statue of Mary to bring all the freshmen over on the bus. She should be there at 2:30 pm.
Freshmen riding the bus per discussions this past week with the Captains are: Gabby, Molly, Leyla, Claire D., Fiona, Regan, Stina, Dena, Augusta, Tess S., Mari, and Izzy (There are 2 openings) We have 14 spots on the bus. We have 18 Freshmen so we really need that second bus. That will give us 28 spots to go to practice and swim meets.
Parents – I am not allowed to drive the bus or put together carpools. The following list was put together by the captains and is tentative. Please, do not email me regarding the carpools. Your daughter needs to work it out with the captains.
(Erin – Avery O., Alana, Mela) (Claire – Malia, Sanjna, Emily) (Allyson – Stella, Rory, Elsie, Amelia) (Marianne – Liz, Sarah, Lily F.) (Lili M – Lauren J, Kaeli, Mimi, Lili HB.) (Lauren K – Phinney, Grace, Audrey) (Asta – Vilijia, Tess F, Elise S, Sofia M) (Cossette – Portia, Joanna, Meghan, Emma) (Sofie B. – Kai, Sofia D., Lene) (Carmen P. - )
b. Tuesday – Same as Monday
c. Wednesday – Two buses
5. If you missed practice on the 20th – If you missed the very first practice and have never been on swim team before, we will need to go over the Rules and Expectations before you get into the pool.
6. Team Swim Suits – The team suit ordering deadline is THIS THURSDAY. Suits are available at the swim pool to try on. You do not need to order a swim cap.
7. Swim Caps – Starting Monday, any swim cap with another swim team’s logo needs to be turned inside out. Get into this habit now. Any caps with a different swim team’s logo worn at a swim meet will get you disqualified by the official. I had a swimmer almost get disqualified at State because she wore her club team cap under her team swim cap and the top cap started to come off during her 500 free. Also, I do not allow club team wear during our swim/dive meets. I understand that you are proud of your club but it is not appropriate wear for Holy Names’ competitions.
8. Holy Names Gear - I promise more information will come out regarding swim team spirit wear and jackets. I don’t enjoy sending out the same email over and over as people join the swim/dive team, so I wait until the last minute. We are at 97 athletes currently. I expect we will hit over 100 by the end of this week. Please, be patient. I promise to send it out. Thanks.
9. Lane Assignments - I am working on these right now and will have them ready by tomorrow. Unfortunately, I do have some athletes that I still need times for.
Warmly,
Coach Loy
