Preliminary Program for Holy Names vs Lakeside Dual Meet 9-14-2018

    Hi All,

It is finally that time for our first dual meet. We have been working hard and I think there are going to be a lot of surprising time drops! Please, look at the preliminary (this preliminary and will change) meet program and let me know ASAP if I have made any errors. If you don't see yourself, it means you did not sign up on SwimTopia. I tried very hard to honor your swim requests but I did make some changes in order to provide a tighter competition (Varsity swimmers). I also dropped a few people from their second event in order to make our strict timeline (JV Swimmers). We have a few JV events such as the 200 relays that may be dropped if we run out of time. It is Metro rules that JV events be dropped if we start to run out of time. I try very hard to run a fast meet so that this does not happen.

Location: Queen Anne Pool,1920 1st Ave W, Seattle, WA 98119

Transportation: We are trying to get (3) buses to the swim meet; only one bus will return players to the school. Parents, please try to pick your child up on time at 5:45 pm. I will follow-up with whether we were able to get (3) drivers later today.

2:15 pm - Early Release : Please, be out of the area before 2:30 pm so you may leave safely before everyone is released from school. That means be at the buses no later than 2:17 pm. (If you must stay until 2:30 pm for a test or strict class, please, do not carpool or use the bus and find your own transportation.)

    Reminders

    • No food on deck!
    • CHEER FOR YOUR TEAMMATES! You better be behind those lanes cheering on your swim & dive family (unless your event is next :) ).
    • This meet is very tight on schedule. If you miss your event, you will be DQ'd
    • If you see a coach is taking a time; please do not start asking her questions and cause her to miss catching splits for a swimmer in the water
    • During Dive, sit on the edge of the pool (no feet in the water), be supportive, be quiet (diving is dangerous) and cheer for your teammates after her dive
    • If you get sick (nerves, etc), do not disappear into the locker room without telling one of the coaches. Injuries - med kit will be at coaches table
    • If there is a shallow pool and we are allowed to use it by the pool manager, you may warm up and warm down in it as long as there is a COACH guarding you. Otherwise, your captains will tell you when the scheduled breaks are.
    • Flyover starts for all events except relays and backstroke. This means stay in the water until the following heat is started off the block. Then you may get out.
    • Be kind to your competitors. Acknowledge them, shake their hands, congratulate.
    • Cheer for the 400 Free Relay. You better not be in the locker room. Grrr...
    • No early departures unless injury or prior approval

This is going to be an exciting meet and I am expecting a lot of you are going to outdo yourselves! Think of every meet as a learning experience. If you miss a time you are trying to achieve, instead of getting down on yourself, just think of what you might be able to do to better next time such as eat better the night before, stay warmed-up in between events (take your pulse), improve your form, have your parents video tape you so you can study your swim and for Heaven's sake, drink your water!

Remember, your coaches and teammates love you and know you are trying your best.

    GO COUGARS!

    Blessings,

    Coach Loy
