    SWIVE practices start this Wednesday

    Hi SWIVE!

Well, I am back from Colorado and ready to do some swim and dive practices! Thank you for all the condolences and kind words.

Practices will be held at Gregory Seahurst Swim Club in the awesome city of Burien starting this Wednesday 10/7/2020.

Located at: 16700 19th Ave SW, Burien, WA 98166

Monday, Wednesday, Friday – 5:30 am to 7:00 am

Saturday – 8:00 am to 10:00 am (Dive with 2 lanes open for swimming) Coach Ed is on vacation but will be back by the 12th. It turns out, I am certified to oversee dive while he is gone.

This is my home pool and I swim in it daily. It’s warm and will feel great in the morning. I promise.

AM Advantages! Since so many of you are coming from different areas, I feel early morning practices would work best for avoiding traffic and work times for parent drivers.

For most of you, this should be about a 30 minute or less drive.

Practice goals – Since these are out of season practices, the goals will be slightly different.

    • 1.Basic Exercise - Practices should be invigorating but not overtiring. Let’s get some good, fun exercise, revive our souls and get a break from all the stuff going on right now with COVID.
    • 2.Team Bonding - Practices will be more social (but safely social). There are a lot of new swimmers and divers and this is going to be a great time to get to know everyone before our actual season.
    • 3.Practices are totally optional, and you do not have to attend if you do not want to attend. This is for you to feel better, not to be more stressed out. That would defeat the goal…

Anyway, I am so very excited. I know some of you might be concerned about the early morning, but I promise it will make you feel awesome once you get into the schedule of waking up so early. It is so pretty in the morning and peaceful and quiet … and your friends who are not in SWIVE will think you are super cool.

Safety – For those of you who are worried, I am very much on top of the latest COVID-19 information and managed an outdoor pool. I am very strict and will not allow you to yell or get too close to your teammates without a mask. Chlorine has proven to be very effective against the virus, but I still take a lot of precautions. I am a lifeguard, so I am in the mindset of safety first. If we are allowed to use the kickboards, I will be spraying those kickboards down before any of you even touch them.

Waivers – Mrs. London will be setting up an online waiver to sign for the pool, just like we did for Seattle University.

First Come, First Serve – The sign ups will be first come first serve. There should be 18 spots for a 90- minute swim on MWF. Saturday should have 10 dive sign ups and 9 swim sign ups.

Check In – You are required to check in on your app in the morning. I will mark your attendance when you get to the pool. If you forget to check in, I will have to take your temperature, etc. I might check your temperature anyways (lol).

Looking forward to coach the BEST TEAM IN THE ENTIRE WORLD!!!

    For the POPE! 😊

    Coach Loy
