Goal Setting & September Swim Updates

    Holy Names Parents & Athletes!

Attached you will find 2 documents- one is our pool schedule for the rest of the season at Medger Evers. This is subject to change- it is a public pool, but to the best of our knowledge the rest of the season will follow this schedule. They are broken out by month, will also be listed on Heja. Please reach out if you have questions or trouble opening the file.

Sept 4th (MONDAY LABOR DAY)- to give an option to get in an extra practice to hit that 10- we have a team tradition of hiking Snoqualmie Falls on Monday. All who are in town and want to participate are welcome- we encourage parents, siblings, pets etc. We will meet at the top parking lot at 10am. Hike down to the beach, take a team photo and then we invite the girls to swim- its VERY cold but a lot of fun! None of this is mandatory- simply a fun way to get a practice in while also getting to know some of the other families.  RSVP on Heja so we make sure we have everyone!

2nd Attachment is our SWIVE Workbook! Today we went over the team agreement, discussed coaches expectations and goal setting. We as coaches want to know what goals you have in mind so we can help you achieve them. We'll be tracking times and splits in your notebooks (also handed out today) We'll be able to see when you hit those benchmarks and how on target we are to goal- before the season starts. I know there were some upset they didn't get much or any time in the water today. I get it. We will continue to goal set, and remind you of the expectations of you as a Holy Names Swimmer & Diver. Parents, please look at this with your daughters- talk to them about how they goal set - to achieve faster times, we need to see girls attending practices. We also want to set goals around rest, recovery and maintaining all aspects of being a student athlete- especially the student part.

a fun reminder: Coach Loy has little ducks - for your crocs or your bracelets once you hit your 10 practices! Some of you are getting very close!  The turtles will be given out if we see acts of compassion and courage amongst the swimmers. I saw so many kind acts yesterday at our first afternoon practice and will be giving a turtle out to those swimmers. If you see someone in your lane, or even out of the water exhibiting these behaviors- tell us, we'd be happy to celebrate and give them a turtle!

Be kind to your teammates, your coaches & yourself.  We'll see you on the pool deck!
