    Week 2 Recap

Pre-season is underway. As I said last week the girls are looking strong in the water. The team is coming together and will be a force other teams will need to watch out for!

We went for our annual hike on Monday to Snoqualmie Falls. Thanks to all the families that came along. We took some pictures and got to catch up with our teammates we haven’t seen all summer.

On Thursday, we had an inner squad meet. All the girls swam 50 free for time and got to swim another event of choice. We only did 50’s of each stroke and 100 IM. We also practiced our team cheer and the warm-up, so we are ready to go for next week’s meet!

Today we talked about nutrition while in season. Even though practice is early in the morning, I encourage everyone to have a small breakfast before coming to practice and then have another small breakfast after practice as well as a well-balanced dinner. This year Holy Names is teaming up with a nutritionist, who came to Sports Night last week. We will be having a session with the nutritionist during the season. Also, Coach Adam found this link to a document about nutrition for swimmers. Please look over it, it has a lot of good information.

    Reminders:

    • Please come join us for our first swim and dive meet against Roosevelt. We are hosting this meet! The meet is next Friday (9/12) at Evans Pool at Green Lake. Meet starts at 4pm, warm-ups are at 3:30pm and girls are expected to be there at 3:15pm. Green Lake is busy, so expect to park in the neighborhood. There is a small section of bleachers for spectators. Try to be there early to get a good seat.
    • For the meet to be successful, the team will need your help. We need about 17 volunteers. All the different jobs are found on SwimTopia under the Roosevelt meet. Sign-up to be a timer and you will get front row seating! Parents need to be registered on SwimTopia to be able to sign up for the job. If you are having trouble, please let me know.
    • WIAA has a rule that the athletes need to complete 7 practices before the first meet. I will be contacting athletes who still need more practices. Please check-in with your daughter if you are unsure if they have completed 7 practices.
